Title: Senior EWP Floor Designer (Minimum 5 years of experience)

Reports To: Floor Designing Supervisor

Location: Stoufville and Barrie Office (We are hiring for both the locations)

Department: Floor Design Department

Salary: Based on Experience

Job Overview:

Working in an energetic, fast paced environment, you will work with minimal supervision to create wood products floor systems design for residential or commercial buildings, with a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Prepare engineered floor/roof framing layouts for residential or commercial projects using MiTek SAPPHIRE software.

· Responsible for design of engineered I-Joists, LVL beams and metal hanger connector specifications.

· Communicating and working with the Truss Design Department and Engineers when necessary for specific design requirements.

· Interpret construction plans, building supplies plans and information, apply these files for engineering and supply.

· Train new employees or co-op students and be a role model in their future career growth.

· Assist team members in resolving structural design problems and provide expert advice that may arise.

· Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

· Strong experience in MiTek Structure or similar EWP Design CAD based software to prepare framing layouts and model floor and roof loads for engineering design.

· Knowledge of APA details or similar from an I-Joist manufacturer.

· Knowledge of Ontario Building Code wood construction framing.
